AmorbusNymph to Adult Stages Amorbus alternatus Amorbus robustus
Amorbus is a genus of true bugs, describe in the family leaf-footed bugs. They are diurnal (active during the day). There are about 15 Australian species of the genus Amorbus, that are associated with Eucalyptus, hence their common names of Eucalyptus Tip Bug and Eucalyptus Tip-wilter Bug.
The nymph (the juvenile stage) of the Amorbus sp. undergo stages of moulting the skin, this process is referred to as an “instar”. These instars can involve some dramatic colour changes, which for the novice, appear to be different species.
The Amorbus spp. have tube mouth parts, that they insert into the stems of the Eucalypt leaves to suck the sap.
