The Calyx in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, is declared as home to one of the largest green walls in the southern hemisphere. It also provides a unique venue in the heart of Sydney.
The Calyx (pronounced kal-iks) is defined as ‘the sepals of a flower, typically forming a whorl that encloses the petals and forms a protective layer around a flower bud’.

The Calyx was built to celebrate the Garden’s 200th birthday in 2016 (PTW Architects / Cockram Construction). Built at the location of the former glass pyramid Tropical Centre, in the Lower Palace Garden, it is an interesting addition to the Roygal Botanic Garden Sydney. It houses a unique horticultural display, research and education centre.
