Isopedella inolaIsopedella inola Molt

Part of the Australian Huntsman Spiders group belonging to the family Sparassidae (formerly Heteropodidae) and like all spiders, the species Isopedella inola will molt as it grows, a process that is important for their development and survival.

The molting process allows the spider to grow by replacing its exoskeleton. The young spiders molt frequently, whilst older spiders molt less frequently.

The actual molting process usually takes about 10 minutes. However, the entire process leading up to the molt and after can take days or even weeks. The spider will stop feeding a few days before the molting process. After molting, it will remain in a vulnerable state for about 24 hours whilst the new exoskeleton hardens.
