The species Sameodes cancellalis is a moth in the family Crambidae. It is known as the Banded Pearl in Australia. The adult moths are variable from light to dark brown, with white spots/patches and partly outlined in dark brown to black on the forewings, and white bands across the hindwings. The white patches can appear to make a continuous pattern when the wings are open in a spread position. The moth has a wingspan of about 20 mm.
This species is recorded with a wide distribution from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina, Taiwan, Japan, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, New Guinea, western and southern Africa, Fiji, the Cook Islands and Australia.1
