Hypographa aristarcha, is commonly descibed as a Geometer Moth, a broad term to describe many species of Geometer moths in the family Geometridae .
Derived from Ancient Greek, whose translation of “geo” – “the earth” and “measure”, that is a reference to the way their larvae, or inchworms, appear to measure the earth as they move along in a looping fashion.
