Pink CockatooPink Cockatoo – water Pink Cockatoo – crest

There are two races (subspecies) of Major Mitchells’s Cockatoo, Lophochroa leadbeateri and Lophochroa mollis. The race Lophochroa mollis have very little to no yellow in the crest compared to Lophochroa leadbeateri who have a distinct yellow band through the crest.

An inland species, the Major Mitchell’s Cockatoo are found across the arid and semi-arid regions of Australia. They are seen in a wide range of inland habitats, that may or may not have trees, but always within easy reach of water.
