Commonly known as the Orange-tailed Potter Wasp (Delta latreillei), Potter Wasp or Mud Wasp, this is a bold coloured wasp with strong orange and black markings. They are a large potter wasp, widespread across arid, tropical and subtropical Australia.
Pictured here is the Orange-tailed Potter Wasp (Delta latreillei) feeding on the flowers of the Red Bud Mallee (Eucalyptus pachyphylla) in the Alice Springs Desert Park.
