The Alice Springs Desert Park is home to a number of wasps species including those belong to the Sand Wasps genus Bembecinus and genus Bembix. Belonging to the subfamily Bembicinae, they comprise a large group of crabronid wasps, with a worldwide distribution of over 80 genera and over 1,800 species.
