Chinese Garden of FriendshipCommon Bluetail Damselfly Koi (Nishikigoi) Water Dragon
The Chinese Garden of Friendship is an oasis nestled in the heart of Darling Harbour and offers a tranquil retreat in the middle of the bustling city.
This tranquil hidden gem located between Darling Square and Darling Quarter, is a beautiful example, of traditional Chinese landscape design.
Take your time to wander the meandering pathways, pass the peaceful ponds filled with koi and lotus plants, over little bridge walkways, pass lush flora, and chinese styled pavilions. With each step, a new vista is revealed, as you listen to the water cascading down the falls and spot the water dragons and ibis and dragonflies skimming over the water and enjoy with them this serene haven.
The Chinese Garden of Friendship was built to symbolise the friendship between Sydney, New South Wales and the city of Guangzhou in the province of Guangdong, China. It is inspired by the philosophy of Feng Shui, the garden being meticulously designed to balance the elements of water, plants, stone, and architecture — creating a space of peace and balance.
