A nostalgic recap… looking back at our diary entry for “The Journey”…
Welcome to the journeyโฆ Time has flown since our initial purchase of the 1994 Nissan GQ RX 4.2 Diesel, back in July 2004.
To Recap
Since July 2004 we have gone through the process of selecting a second-hand 4 wheel drive, upgrading, customising and fitting it out to our requirements. We replaced the original bull-bar with an approved one, raised the suspension, added a snorkel, two way radio, and tinted the side and rear windows.
Slowly we accumulated our camping gear, tent, self-inflating mattress, sleeping bags, stove, cooking utensils and accessories. We had the business logo and web address decals fixed to the vehicle.
We had also joined a 4 wheel drive club (the Toyota Landcruiser Club of Australia). Membership gave us access to some great driver training and club discounts, as well as sharing an interest with other like-minded members. Hopefully, we may be able to catch up with some of the other members on our travels around Australia.
Now we are approaching the end of 2005, things have been picking up pace. Over the last two months, we had the long range fuel tank put in, re-wiring of the vehicle to accommodate the 2nd battery with provision of power to the rear, a winch, spotlights, and a roof rack. Boy, did the boss under-estimate the cost!!!
Some unforseen expenses included the repair of the gear box and the replacement of the radiator. A lesson learnt, was that we should have had a motor vehicle inspection prior to purchase, as we may have got our vehicle for less then what we had to borrow.
Other items yet to be completed include our cargo barrier, installation of the fridge, shelving, and a test run with everything packed and in placeโฆ
So enjoy the journey with usโฆ as we relive some of our memoriesโฆ
