The Pink Everlasting (Schoenia cassiniana), formerly Helichrysum cassinianum, is a pink everlasting annual with flower heads that are often in clusters. The cylindrical flower head emerges out of golden-brown bracts, revealing the pink to white papery petals approximately 1 cm long. Has densely hairy leaves and stems. Some leaves also at the base and opposite on stem.
Named after French botanist Alexandre Cassini, this small annual flowers in the winter months, usually July to September. Common on sandplains and red sandy dunes especially after good autumn rains and can forming vast drifts of colour. Looks spectacular among other wildflowers and is one of the prominent mass wildflowers to be seen in Western Australia and Central Australia when conditions are right.
