The Australian Hobby (Falco longipennis) is a small, dark falcon with reddish rust coloured underparts, dark gray to blackish upperparts, and with long, thin, pointed wings. Darker markings cover the cheek, eye, and crown.

One of the popular raptors on show at the Alice Springs Desert Park Birds of Prey Show.

The raptor prefers to captures their prey whilst airborne, especially other smaller birds such as budgerigars. The Australian Hobby is found over a wide variety of open habitats, including urban areas.
