Platymela hasenpuschi belong to the family Chrysomelidae, more commonly known as Leaf Beetles, and one of the largest beele groups with over 35,000 recognised species. As with all members within the family, they are plant feeders (phytophagous). The Leaf Beetles feeding on live plant material (many specialising feeding on selected genus/species of plants).
