This is one of the Phorticosomus species, in the family Carabidae, tribe Harpalini.

The tribe Harpalini is a diverse group of ground beetles belonging to the subfamily Harpalinae that contains more than 1,900 species.

This beetle was rescued from a swimming pool in Alice Springs in the Northern Territory and differs to the other depicted Alice Springs Phorticosomus sp, in that the body pictured here is black compared to the reddish-brown specimen on the Alice Springs Beetles section.
