Found across the mainland of Australia, the Crested Pigeon (Ocyphaps lophotes) have successfully adapted in the the arid regions and urban areas. During dawn and dust, they can often be seen roosting in trees and low shrubs.

In Central Australia they are often seen around sources of water including waterholes, gorges, water troughs and garden bird baths.
