The common name of Case Moth, Bag Moth, Bagworms describe a group of insects in the Psychidae family that are part of the order Lepidoptera. There are many other common names, including some common names that reflect the material used or shape of the casing such as Leaf Case Moths and Ribbed Case Moths.
There are many different types of case moths around the world with about 1,350 known species. Many species create their own style of casing / cocoons, often using the plants material they are on as part of the casing.
