The Dolophones is a genus of orb-weaver spiders in the family Araneidae (formerly Argiopidae). They have the common name of Wrap-around Spiders.

The abdomen of these spiders is concaved, curved in such a way that when the spider rests on a twig, it appears to have wrapped itself around the twig. Their colouration provides perfect camouflage when observed against a twig.

This spider was observed moving rapidly along the courtyard at the desert park, and then hopped onto the twig provided (so we could move it to safety).
