Argiope dietrichae is a species of Orb-web Spider, found in the northern areas of Western Australia and the Northern Territory. It is also commonly known as the Dietrich’s St Andrews Cross Spider.
The species pictured here was observed in Ormiston Gorge in the West MacDonnell National Park.
The Argiope dietrichae are known to hang in their web head down and with their legs arranged in four sets of two. Their carapace is brown and streaked with light coloured down. The abdomen has a tessellated pattern and the sternum has a median posterior white mark. They have light brown legs with darker spots and bands. The females are up to 13 mm in size, whilst the males are about 6 mm.
