Miltinus stenogaster, are commonly known as a Mydas fly or Mydidae flies, and are in the family Mydidae. A striking looking insect, about 25 mm in length. The female of the species is larger then the male.

Important pollinators, they are often found feeding on the pollen and nectar of native plants including Myrtaceae, Tetrapora preissiana, Ericomyrtus serpyllifolia and Lechenaultia floribunda.

Current observations stretch from north of Perth to south through Margaret River, Denmark and Albany. The photographs presented here were taken in Wandoo National Park, Yeal Nature Reserve and Mount Cooke in Western Australia.
