Whilst Metaxymorpha gloriosa have similarities to Castiarina rollei, some obvious differences are in the elytral spikes, with M. gloriosa having 3 spikes and C. rollei having only two spikes. There is also a body length difference with C. rollei being slightly smaller, approximately 2 to 2.5 cm in size. There is also a size difference in the scutellum (located below the pronotum), with C. rollei scutellum being smaller then that in M. gloriosa.
