Floral Reef

Floral Reef is my response to the theme for the 2024 Alice Springs Beanie Festival exhibition “Listen to the Land”.

My beanie is a stement about the regeneration and natural cycles and listening to the land – the reef is our living land mass.

The dots – represent the polyps the sand the sea spray…the end or the beginning…the dots that connect. Blue is for the ocena.

The floral/coral colony looks so fragile and vulnerable though it has resilience and keeps growing though it seems to be dying it is still generating life itself.

The soft flowy spikes suggest movement, life, regeneration and growth.

Healing nature. Listening to the Land.
