Myrmecia nigrocincta are commonly known as the Jumper Ant or Jumping Jack. These ants are known for their ability to jump up to 10 centimetres.
They have a powerful, venomous sting and prefer to forage in trees, where they are also known to pollinate certain flowers. Colonies of these ants are found in eastern Australia.
