AmorbusNymph to Adult Stages Amorbus alternatus Amorbus robustus
Observing the various species of the genera Amorbus, over time you will see that as they grow, they go through some visually different stages from nymph to adult.
The following Amorbus sp were seen on the side of a house in Alice Springs. This is one of the instar stages (having emerged from the eggs).
Various species of the genera Amorbus are often seen on eucalypt trees.
Amorbus alternatus
These nymph (the juvenile) stages will see the Amorbus alternatus undergo stages of moulting the skin, a process referred to as an “instar”. These instars involve some light colouration becoming darker or stronger in colour, some colour and pattern changes, which can make it appear to be different species.
Amorbus atomarius
Amorbus robustus
Although it was seen on the same plant as Amorbus alternatus, this is Amorbus robustus (Common Gum-Tree Bug).
