Mictis profana (Crusader Bug)Mating Nymph
The adult form of Mictis profana are easily recognised by a yellow cross on its back, hence the common names of Crusader Bug and Holy Cross Bug.
The adult Mictis profana can be between approximately 20-25 mm long and whilst the male and female are similar in size and looks, the male of the species have stronger (thicker/heavier) looking spiny hind legs (as can be seen in some of the following photographs).
