Amyotea hamata, commonly known as the Yellow Predatory Shield Bug, is a member of the family Pentatomidae (suborder Heteroptera, infraorder Pentatomomorpha), and is one of the Predatory Stink Bugs (subfamily Asopinae).

Whilst commonly know as the Yellow Predatory Shield Bug, the instar stages vary in the prominant colours, from shades of brown with black, orange-yellow with black marks, red with black, yellow with black. Bugs in this subfamily Asopinae are predators.

Amyotea hamata adults and nymphs (except for the 1st instars) prey on other slow moving soft-skinned insects, including caterpillars and beetle larvae..
