Megachile semiluctuosa is a member of a cosmopolitan group of so called “solitary bees”, a species belonging to the genus Megachile, that is one of the largest genera of bees, containing 56 subgenera, and encompassing 1,520 recognised species.
This species of bee occurrence has been mapped on both the east and west side of mainland Australia.2
