Olive Pink Botanic Garden

Previously described as Australiphthiria, this bee fly has been identified as Tolkunia hibisci (Micro Bee Fly, family Mythicomyiidae) on Sturt’s Desert Rose (Gossypium sturtianum var. sturtianum).

These are very small insects that have been photographed here enjoying the nectar of the flowering Sturt’s Desert Rose (Gossypium sturtianum var. sturtianum), at the Olive Pink Botanic Garden in Alice Springs.
