Visitors to the Alice Springs Desert Park, will often see the Long-nosed Dragon (Gowidon longirostris), or their presence in the red sand, where they make their burrows.
They are a species that are quite common throughout Alice Springs, in the parks and urban gardens, just basking in the sunshine onthe pavement, rocks and logs. Whilst it might be named after it’s nose, it is their tail that is impressive, being longer then their body length.
