It was quite windy this particular day, and we heard a commodation outside. The dogs alerted us to a bird on the ground. We quickly scooped it up and placed it into a box lined with an old pillow case.
It was a juvenile Sacred Kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus) that was attempting to fly for the first time. A few photos, then we quickly took it to our local wildlife carers.
