Woohoo, my working week (well, 3 days) is done, 4 days off, my Eucalyptus platypus is flowering, the bees are turning up (I’ve spotted 5 different species so far but hoping that will double, at least, over the coming weeks), and my replacement Olympus has arrived* (see footnote 😆)… 😃
And no, these aren’t pics from it, these are from one of my Canons with a 100mm macro lens late last week… Pretty close to 100% certain this guy is either Megachile (Eutricharaea) chrysopyga, orrr… not… 🧐
*Footnote.
Righto, so Friday before last, Aus Post Tracking first said “Parcel arriving Friday or Monday”. Monday morning tracking said “Arriving today” but no indication of approximate time, so I waited around all day in case it turned up, but was taken back to the Main PO ‘cos there was no one to sign for it… That means having to drive right in to the City centre, then drive ’round and ’round looking for a parking space somewhere and then stand in a 45 minute long queue of people coughing their city germs on me, all the while hoping I don’t get a parking fine ‘cos the only space available was a 15 minute only zone… 😅, Tuesday, same thing, parcel arriving today, if it’s early enough, I’ll still have time for a bee hunt… 😃 But nope, another wasted day… 😕 Wednesday, surely, today… I check the tracking, and the blue line has gone backwards! It now says it was only processed in Perth (450 K’s away) late Tuesday arvo, now arriving Thursday or Friday! And now it also adds “won’t need a signature, parcel will be left if deemed safe” 😫 So I didn’t need to stay home after all, thanks Aus Post, but I wish you’d told me that on Monday… 😂 So Thursday, I wait again… I spend a couple of hours out the back by my newly flowering E. platypus with the Canon (getting a bit more used it now), but wishing I had my little Olympus…. Still waiting, mix up some 2 stroke fuel, whipper snip the front yard hoping to see the white parcel van pull up… Nothing… Getting into late mid arvo now, I’m having a cold beverage, getting ready to call it a day, and suddenly remember I have to chuck a bit of air in a squishy looking back tyre on my Commodore wagon. And as I walk behind the car (I have a half circle driveway alongside the driveway down the side of my house to the garage, and I might be old but I’m still a natural born hoon so I favour drifting the wagon around the half circle and then reversing in 😆), there, on the front of my Jeep, is the parcel with my camera… 😂 Ohhh you’re joking… 😅 When did that turn up? Had to be in the morning when I was out the back with the Canon wishing I had my Olympus… 😆 and now it’s too late for bees and of course I’m working for the next 3 days… 😂 Oh Murphy, you really do like to test me don’t you?.. 🤣
