A member of the genus Aname (known as the Mygalomorph Spiders in the suborder Mygalomorphae), is endemic to Australia. The Aname are part of the commonly known Wishbone Spiders (family Anamidae). The wishbone name is taken from the shape of their open silk-lined burrow, which has the shape of the letter “Y”, with one arm shorter than the other, although only the longer arm reaches the surface from the burrow.
The Aname species may be distinguished from other genera in the family by the presence of a prominent asetose ventral depression on the male pedipalpal tibia.2
