Southern Downs FrogsBleating Tree Frog Green Tree Frog Ornate Burrowing Frog Peron’s Tree Frog
Once classified as Limnodynates ornatus, and following a major revision of amphibians, the genus Platyplectrum now includes the Ornate Burrowing Frog (Platyplectrum ornatum).
This species has a distribution that ranges from western Sydney to Cape York in Queensland, and running along either side of the Great Dividing Range across to Western Australia. It enjoy habitats that range from wet sclerophyll forest, woodland, through to more arid regions.
One of the burrowing frogs, this species is usually only seen after heavy rain during spring or summer.
