Like many of us, we often seek help with identification of flora and fauna. Some resources that we at AusEmade use in our research are iNaturalistAU and Atlas of Living Australia. We also use a number of Facebook groups that cover a range of topics that are Australian specific, such as entomology, native bees, polistinae, butterflies and moths. Both iNat and Facebook groups have a unique resource in their members, in what is referred to as “citizen science”. As well as using Google search and social media for our research, we also consult a number of publications.
For those new to iNaturalist, there are some online userguides and help with uploading your observations and other features. There are also some great iNaturalist Curators, as well as an iNaturalist Forum.
You can check out some of our “Ausemade Observations” on iNat, and for those observations awaiting identification, please feel free to help us with the IDs…
We have many more observations (not pictured above) on iNaturalistAU.
