Moloch horridus... my Thorny Devil

Moloch horridus… my Thorny Devil

Author Koh Lin

Central Australia is home to many interesting creatures… including the amazing looking Thorny Devil (classified as Reptilia). Despite its strange appearance and latin name “Moloch horridus“, many people find the Thorny Devil as adorable.

Historically, Moloch was a Canaanite God (Devil) to whom children were sacrificed! Luckily we know that this little fellow is completely harmless to humans. The Thorny Devil are found in the outback of Australia, roaming the arid landscape, searching and feeding on tiny ants (they are known to eat over 1,000 ants per meal).
