Following is a painting I did for my friends Colin and Greg, based on my ‘Bush Honey’, one of the popular treats enjoyed by children and adults. This painting is about the bush honey, a delicacy among the Aboriginal People. If you look closely, you can see some green and yellow in the swirls, that represents the plant and flowers.

There are many different types of bush honey, this artwork is based on the Honey Grevillea (Grevillea eriostachya). When the flower is rich in nectar, the children would pick the flower and just suck on the nectar. The women, would also pick the flower and swirl it in water to make a sweet drink.

(The work displayed here has been sold).

Painting size: 91 cm x 76 cm
