Whilst they may be considered the enemy by some native bee lovers, there is no doubting the importance of Apis mellifera honey bee as an economic staple in countries around the world.

They are known to collect pollen from a vast range of flowering plants, although in some areas, they may have a preference for a particular plant species, or they may be opportunistic, foraging on what is available.

They are a relatively easy bee to photograph and make a great composition in photos. Check out some of the plants we have listed to see the Apis mellifera in action.
