Western Australia InsectsBees (Native Bees) Beetles Moths Planthopper Wasps
Australian Planthoppers (Fulgoromorpha), found here in Western Australia. The infraorder Fulgoromorpha, in the suborder Auchenorrhyncha, is a group of over 12,500 described species worldwide, and are commonly referred to as planthoppers.
The common name planthopper is said to come from their resemblance to leaves and other plants of their immediate environment, and that they are said to “hop” similar to that of grasshoppers, although most planthoppers tend to walk very slowly.
