Robustus and Pup – 22 May 2009

Pup had this mothering instinct…

Robustus was an active young dog. She and Pup would often run really fast in a mad race around the outside of the house. On the east side of the house (which is under cover), it was all concreted. There was this one occasion when Robustus came runnning around the corner of the house really fast and trying to navigate a 90 degree turn, slid on the concrete, straight into the wall of the house, and cracked the gyprock wall… hence her name, Robustus… and just like Pup, we shortened her name to Ro…

The sad day came, when our loveable Ro started to get a cancerous growth on her neck, under the jaw… we had hoped the first operation would be successful. But, no… another growth soon appeared on her neck and throat, which would eventually prevent her from eating. So the heart-breaking decision was made. That particular morning, we took Ro out with Pup, in the 4 wheel drive for an outing. It is something both of them loved. Then coming back home, with a heavy heart and tears in our soul, we waited for the vet to arrive… the whole family stayed together to the end…

Happy memories of Pup and Ro…
