Belair National Park FaunaBirds Insects Spiders
Opisthoncus nigrofemoratus, also known as Black-thighed Jumper, Prince Jumping Spider or the Princess Jumping Spider, it belongs to the group of spiders known as the Salticidae Jumping Spider.
They have been observed from Brisbane Queensland, down the east coast of New South Wales, ACT, Victoria, South Australia, south-west region of Western Australia and Tasmania.
The Jumping Spiders are a diverse and abundant spider family, with over 500 genera and more than 5,000 species, comprising over 13 per cent of all spiders. One of the key features for identification, are the two relatively enormous eyes in the middle of the front eye row.
