The Toadhopper (Buforania crassa) is a plump spur-throated grasshopper found in the Northern Territory, Australia. The adult females have been seen to grow to a total length of 10 cm, with a thorax of about 3.5 cm wide.
They are often found on rocky substrate, camouflaging well against the red rocky ranges. They can also be seen on and sheltering under the plants that they feed on such as Maireana sp., Sclerolaena sp., Enchylaena tomatosa and Stemodia viscosa.1
