The members of the Greenbush Art Group are from the prisons, providing a creative outlet for those in the prison system of Central Australia, especially those who are incarcerated for long periods of time. The group provides a way where the thoughts, feelings and creativity of its members can be expressed in a community forum, revealing the many talents and the value of those within the prison system. These exhibitions have and continue to be more than just pieces of art, often made of timber and steel.
The exhibtions held over the many years, all had a theme that often bring smiles and capturing the heart of those who attend. From the 2017 exhibition – sculptural birds of Tjulpu Thipe!, the 2018 Big mob of dogs!, to the 2025 Steel Life, each exhibition showcased the skills of the Greenbush artists (many who are visual art students of the CDU TAFE corrections visual arts program and are enrolled in the Certificate IV Visual Arts program, through the Charles Darwin University).
