Insects | Megachile aurifrons > nesting | capping the nest | opportunity knocks | pollen | private moments | red eyes | resin | squatting | bee video | sequel

It was interesting and a pleasure to catch the private moments of the Australian native bee Megachile aurifrons (Golden-browed Resin Bee), as it prepares the nesting hole (one by one), laying down the pollen and depositing its egg, before sealing the nest up with resin. This sneak look into the private lives of the Golden-browed Resin Bee, is limited by us being the giant observer, trying to peer into a tiny opening of the nesting hole.
