The distinctive Red-necked Avocet (Recurvirostra novaehollandiae) is an endemic shorebird and the only avocet species in Australia. With its dark chestnut red head and neck, a characteristic thin, upturned beak, white eye-rings and pale bluish long legs, they wonderful to see in flight over water.
