Australian Chats | Crimson Chat > perched | water

The striking Crimson Chat (Epthianura tricolor) when not foraging or enjoying drinking and splashing around waterholes, can be sighted perched in shrubs and trees.

A songbird of the inland arid regions of Australia, the male bird in particular, cannot be missed with their bright crimson red crown, belly and rump. This is contrasted with a white throat-patch, black mask and upperparts.

A small bird the Crimson Chat has a short decurved (downward curving) bill.
