Sometimes referred to as a topknot pigeon, the Crested Pigeon (Ocyphaps lophotes) are widely distributed across the mainland, found in the the arid regions as well as having successfully established themselves in urban areas.

They are recognised particularly by the thin black crest on top of the head.
