The Tiger Moth (Amata trigonophora) is found in the coastal areas of eastern Australia, from Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, with some sightings on the west coast in the Kimberleys.

From the family Erebidae, subfamily Arctiinae, it has black wings with large orange/yellow spots on the wings and a wingspan approximately 4 cm. The forewings have five large elongated to an almost oval shaped orange/yellow spots, with the spots nearest the wing tips crossed by a narrow black line. The Tiger moth has a black head, the thorax is mainly black with a yellow band at front, and banded black and orange/yellow abdomen.
