Commonly known as the Blue-banded Bee is the name given to a group of bee species in the genus Amegilla. Pictured here is the species Amegilla chlorocyanea bee.

A small robust looking bee with a golden-brown head and thorax. The abdomen is black with blue stripes, although the blue can be very pale, to almost off-white in colour.

Keeps a lookout for these wonderful looking native bees as you walk around the desert park. They will often be seen feeding off the nectar of a variety of native flowering plants.
