Page Rank
What is PageRank?
A trademark of Google, PageRank is the result of a link analysis algorithm. The numeric value represents how important a particular page is on the web. A number of factors are taken into consideration when calculating the importance of a page, one being how many other sites and pages link to the page. Of course there are many websites trying to outwit the Google algorithm for PageRank, which is why Google is constantly tweaking and changed the algorithm, in fact Google explains that PageRank is important but not the sole factor in how pages are ranked.

There is a great article by Danny Sullivan 'What Is Google PageRank? A Guide For Searchers & Webmasters'.

PageRank is also used by many SEO and advertisers when seeking a link partnership or page that they want to advertise on. Whilst a higher PageRank page can command a higher advertising dollar, the real value of a page should really be the content. For us here, it makes more sense to target pages that are relevant to our market.

There are PageRank prediction tools that supposedly can predict your future ranking. Our experience is that not all of them work, some appear inaccurate, giving a page rank that is less than what you actually have. What does work is creating content that is relevant and actively seeking reciprocal links to sites that are relevant to the content.
