Hopetoun - Cities, Towns and Localities
With Bremer Bay to the west and Esperance to the east, the picturesque town of Hopetoun is located on the coastline looking out to the Southern Ocean. This popular waterfront holiday destination is part of the scenic Fitzgerald Coast, and is the main eastern gateway to the Fitzgerald River National Park, just under 10 km from the eastern entrance to the park.

Being on the edge of the Fitzgerald River National Park, visitors to Hopetoun are offered an unique opportunity to experience the spectacular beauty of nature, with an extremely diverse flora and fauna. This is one of Australia's largest National Park, and an UNESCO recognized Biosphere Reserve encompassing an extremely diverse flora and fauna of over 1,800 species of plants, myriad number of lichens, mosses and fungi, and abundant wildlife. The diverse flora include sixty-two plant species found only in the Fitzgerald River National Park, with a further 48 species more or less confined to the park.1

The park features beautiful scenic drives and lookouts, accessible by two wheel drive roads and four wheel drive tracks. Offering a host of activities including swimming, surfing, fishing, bush walking and camping. Culham Inlet, Phillip and Oldfield River estuaries, are popular fishing spots, whilst Munglinup Beach is also a popular spot for swimming and fishing.

Hopetoun Attractions

Point Ann and Four Mile Beach
• Located within the Fitzgerald River National Park, Point Ann and Four Mile Beach are popular spots for whale watching during the winter months. Point Ann is one of two places (the other is Head of the Bight) where Southern Right Whales come to calve during their winter migration. There is a whale watching platform from which you can observe the whales out at sea. You may also spot fur seals here.
