Majolica is a translucent lead glaze that named after the brightly coloured ‘majolica tin-glazed wares of the Italian Renaissance’. The firm is believed to have only made 12, with only eight apparently surviving today, one of which is now in this museum. Another peacock is to be found in the Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo.
